Focus on success


From Suefromcoatt: I have been able to let that go, and I am now able to focus on my lifes successes, rather than the failures, and it does give me the confidence to do things I just wouldnt have attempted before, so I am now going to pat myself on the back for that !!

This is one of the best thing I learnt in petecohen.tv. I ma trying to get to bed earlier - and after one year not too much progress. But I don't look at failures, I've changed my atitude.

Get to bed too late + wake up too late, don't have good idsposition, eat late at night + get fatter.

Ideas - to everyone, with Will-the-techie's help


HI everyone,

I just have an idea. I'm from the old group and more and more there are new people coming. We can't follow all blogs all the time. I rememember once Suefromcoast gave a summary of her history for new people know about her. Recently Ros read all Kathryn12's blogs and Wendy told us she spent almost two hours reading Kpakpando's one. I think it would be good to have at any point sort of a brief summary or presentation. But Will should help us in order to make it easily available when we want to know more about someone. I would like so much if I could know a little more about some people I follow just following a link.

I would like to encourage those who don't have a gravatar to have one. Today I almost take Katfrin for Kathryn12 but it didn't happen becuse they have different avatar so I noticed it was not the same person. If you think it is difficult to create one, please ask someone to help you.

Last thing. Facebook is a good place to get in touch, too. Please look for the group - Pete Cohen Keep Going - on Facebook and you will meet many of us.

PCTV's effect -To Kpkpando and others


Today I am so slow moving, ugly, and just realised I have been giving the wrong medicine to my dogs for the past 8 months due a mistalke of mine.
I got to bed too late last night and slept too much this morning causing me to get worst.

Now, the explanation:
-slow moving : I can't have milk at night. Tried kefir yesterday and one more time I confirm it makes me feel bad although it sounds crazy for so many people I talk to.
- ugly: milk again, my face is swelled etc
-yes, I did a big mistake. Should I do harakiri?

And now, petecohen.tv's effect ( internal dialogue):
-Is harakiri an option? Despite all the care and attention I give to the dogs? Not to mention that this medicine is only related to weel being.
- I am this and that - so what? my colleagues are so elegant intelligent , they would never commit such a mistake... so what?
- I will never change my bad habit, I will be unhappy for the rest of my life due my stupidity.
So what?

Come on, duck, shut up ! I am positive (to my surprise) despite my lack of success in this effort, I am so positive and firmly believe it is just a matter of time. Yes, I will have to stand this uncomfortable condition today but tomorrow I will be better. Let's move on!

This positiveness comes from petecohen.tv, and now it is becomning natural for me! ( almost two years of petecohen.tv I really like it so much!)

Day 1


I am back , will see the whole program again. I think it is so good to meet friends and hear Pete once more. Time to reach the ideal weigth.

Missing this blog


I am really missing this blog I like so much. But I ma still too busy and trying to sllep not too late. I hope everyone is doing well.

Little Progress - SLEEP DEPRIVATION


It's been a long time since my last post. For those who don't know me, I am Brazilian got 7 extra kilos in 2007 while my mother was in hospital . I found petecohen.tv almost by chance and without effort I lost the extra kilos. However, I am short , 5" and always touched the overweight limit 62 -64 kg . It would be nice to lose more 5 kilos. I've eaten healthily almost all my life. This improved after petecohen.tv and I eat much better now, with much pleasure.

The only hindrance is a very bad habit of being active at late hoursin the night. It became worst in past months, I don't know why, but the more I tried to overcome the bad habit the later I was going to sleep!!! 2 am was the habit in past five years and recently, without noticing, I was turning off the light at 3:30!!!. It's been almost one year I 'm trying to change this. I tried many things but they were not working. This very bad habit, like any other serious addictions, puts me in a vicious cicle. I sleep too late at night, wake up next day too late, don't have time to do things, go to bed too late etc. Not to mention that I am usually too tired, unproductive and making more mess than doing the tasks (which I deeply dislike) due lack of attention and concentration because of sleep deprivation. In the past, it was enough for me to stop eating in the evening to lose weigth. Now I eat to remain awake and this way I gain a few pounds.

This year I found three books about SLEEP DEPRIVATION, SEMI-SOMNIA , bought all them. They are good and you can see them on my Facebook. And finally, after a few months, I see a LITTLE progress. One of the things I learnt in petecohen.tv is to be positive. This has helped me so much. I am confident I will overcome no matter how long it will take.

PLEASE notice, I don't have ANY sleep problem. Also, I always did almost all things specialists recommend to havea good night of sleep . The only problem is that I postpone too much going to my bedroom. I get active at night, and this a lifelong habit that got worst now after 47 years.

I was looking forward to psot here. I miss this blog, I check it regulary, write a phrase or two, but one of the things I avoid is web because it works as a stimulant at night and I am working a lot during the day so I am not having much time at all. I hope to come back soon!

First Time using Track Tool


Unbelivable. But my connection was too slow in September 07 when I had my first round here. I love this program, I am so enthusistic about it.

First time using Track Tool, and it is so interesting. I will try some of the recipes although I live in a country, Brazil, where the food is delicious not to mention so many fruits we have available all the year. I've been cooking much better and my food is a heathy one. But lets try one recipe today.

Tiredeness


A good news is that I am learning to acknowledge I am tired.Then I stop all I am doing and go to sleep. It may be the same of noticing that a food or an excess of something makes me feel bloat. I think we didn't notice or care for these sensations in the past.

Now, the first sign of discomfort is enough fo rme to stop eating ( yes, I may have failed a few times on Holidays - but I had no excess at all ).

Still struggling


I am still struggling to sleep earlier. It is so difficult. It requires a lot of patience and most of things of petecohen.tv I am using to change this bad habit.

Today I read lots of articles about sleep deprivation, sleep deficit. People feels like they have drunk - it is the way I am feeling today. I don't use coffee and no other stimulant. But not to have proper rest results in lots of problems: no exercise, no meals, only snacks, lack of energy ,of concentration etc.

And the problem is that it happens in a cycle ( don't remember now the right expression). Because I sleep less time than I need , I am much prone to do the same next day, because I won't have energy during the day and only about 11pm I will try to do the things that can't be left undone and then , go to sleep too late again.

I posted many articles in my facebook notes.

Study: Snacking Spikes When People Skimp on Sleep

Jan. 9, 2009 -- If you're looking for a way to cut down on snacking, you might want to get more sleep.

That's according to a new study of 11 adults whose sleep and eating patterns were studied at the University of Chicago's sleep research lab.

Participants spent two weeks getting only 5 1/2 hours of sleep a night. At least three months later, they went back to the sleep lab and spent two weeks sleeping for 8 1/2 hours per night.

Throughout that time, participants were provided meals and they had unlimited access to snacks. The researchers -- who included Arlet Nedeltcheva, MD, of the University of Chicago -- monitored what participants ate, down to the nibble.

Participants averaged 220 extra calories from snacks -- mainly carbohydrates eaten at night -- on the days after sleeping only 5 1/2 hours, compared to after sleeping 8 1/2 hours.

Participants weren't especially active during their extra hours of time awake. So their extra snacking when they had little sleep created a bloated calorie tab, setting them up for weight gain.

Nedeltcheva's study appears in January's edition of The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
