Ordered 2 fitness DVD’s & booked 2 yoga classes

I have ordered
30 day shred – says interval training – a friend is raving about it
Kettlebell workout – but uses dumbbells – suits me better
Cant afford kettlebells yet- xmas present I think
Only £5 each on amazon

I am planning on using them in the garden – I can stick them in the laptop & take that outside

Neighbours will think I am nuts
They do anyway when they hear me arguing with the cat I am sure

The gym is not appealing as I cant really use much with my back

I will try the yoga class again – last time the lady did not explain anything as everyone was a regular
Then hoping I can learn some good moves & use yoga channel on sky

Going swimming tonight – no rush to get home, I can take along as I like or till my back starts hurting again

I had an awful nights sleep last night, my back was throbbing
I will listen to the relaxation mp3 tonight

Really trying to think about my achievements rather than failures
What do I really want
To be fit & healthy
To keep my anxiety under control
Find my selfworth/confidence again

Tonight
Exercise
Eating slowly
Relaxation – Jacuzzi in the gym I think

SheenaIgnatia's Gravatar You sound ever so positive! That's brilliant!

I know what you mean about the neighbours- since Pete suggested I walked barefoot on the grass I have been doing it every day- only prob is I live in a flat so have been doing in the communal grounds! LOL! Plus I have been singing- they are going to think I have lost the plot.

Was at GPs today by the way and asked for CBT - starting it in 4 weeks!

cherub79's Gravatar When I take my nephew to the park I take my shoes off & walk round bare feet
lush grass feels soo nice, rather than the brown grass everywhere has at the moment

Great news on the CBT, we have such a long waiting list in sussex
I think I must have been forgotten - I was put on it 2 years ago

I was always worried what people would think of me - still do a bit - not half as bad as I used to be
So what, they can see you are happy doing it

SheenaIgnatia's Gravatar Gosh 2 years ago is a long time ago! Have you got a local mental health trust you can contact directly? That's how it works here it seemed- the doc just gave me a leaflet and I phoned them up.

Yes that's true about worrying about what people think and besides some of my neighbours ARE bonkers anyway!

Sandie's Gravatar Cherry don't stick the kettlebells in the laptop! It will be much better to put a DVD into the laptop

You are sounding like a happier Cherry :-)

Sandie's Gravatar Oh Cherry do they have a power plate machine at your gym? When I was at gym on Wednesday a lady with a bad back was being shown how to do relaxation stretches whilst sitting on the vibrating plate. She told me it was working but she did feel that she needed to do the exercise whilst under instruction. Perhaps this is something else that you could try.

babsybabe's Gravatar Hi Cherry,

Re the yoga class - I don't know if you were going to a class at the gym or at a proper yoga centre, but I would recommend going to a proper yoga centre and letting the teacher know that you're a beginner with some back problems - then he/she will keep an extra eye on you. In my experience, I've generally found that yoga classes at gyms aren't so good and there's little correction of postures.

Most yoga centres will do an 8 or 10 week beginner's class and this is invaluable in understanding the postures. Class numbers are generally relatively small and good centres will restrict the numbers to make sure you get enough attention.

I hope you manage to get things sorted - but you're doing a wonderful job of keeping active, despite your sore back.
