Lost

For some reason I have completely lost my self control and motivation to concentrate on the programme and I am starting to get those feelings of desparation about ever being thin.
You knowI seem to do really well and then sabotage myself and I can't understand why. I'm not upset about anything so there is really no need to be comfort eating, I just seem to want to eat.

I'm thinking of trying hypnotherapy as I'm fed up of yo-yoing, loosing half a stone or a stone then putting it back on again. Has anyone else tried it and do you think it would work?

Comments :
JessB's Gravatar Hey Luby, I know exactly what you mean, it's like a little red blinking self destruct button. You can reason it all out logically but sometimes the overwhelming desire to eat drowns out all reason.

I've had hypnotherapy and it didn't seem to work for me, certainly not any kind of miracle cure. It's very expensive. However I think different things work for different people so you might want to give it a try. The nice thing about hypnotherapy is that it's very deeply relaxing! I'm happy to talk to you about it on the phone or Facebook if you like.

Dean's Gravatar Hi Luby
As Jess says hypnotherapy is not a miracle cure - but certainly can help you access different parts of yourself to make changes. It is what Pete is doing with the mp3s essentially
I qualified as a hypnotherapist last year and when I have sorted my own weight!! it is an area I want to work in. Not sure at the moment I am a shining example!
Although in fact I have a couple of clients I have been working with on weight issues quite successfully.
Like anything else it is just a tool, which may or may not be useful to you.
Like Jess, if you want more information happy to talk to you on Facebook or phone

pete's Gravatar Hi Luby

sorry to see you are struggling. It would appear that this is a habit that you have repeated many times before. Perhaps this is what you should focus on, breaking this habit and moving on.

If you want my advice I would take a few moments to consider what you want to be slimmer for and what you would get out of achieving this.

If you really want to change your body then you have teach your body to burn sugar and the most effective way of doing this is to put on muscle tone. I am not sure what exercise you are doing but this might be something worth looking into.

If you want some motivation then perhaps this clip will help you. You are one of the first people to see this but I think you will agree it's impressive,

lubylou's Gravatar Pete,
You are so right this is something I struggle with again and again.
I have just been reasing some stuff on the internet about switching the focus from trying to loose weight to actually nourishing your body and choosing foods because of how they make you feel inside.
This rang true with everythign you have been teaching us on this programme and when I stop and think about it I feel best and most motivated when I am thinking of being fit and healthy and choosing good foods and going to the gym then when I concentrate on the weight loss. The weightloss that happens at these times is really just a fabulous benefit of eating well and exercising. So I thnk this is where I am going to put my energies. Into nourishing my body with food, this means I will only eat when I am hungry and will not over eat as this is not good for my digestive system and I will eat fresh whole foods as these give me the vitamins and minerals I need.
I do a mixture of exercise which includes running, Yoga, Aerobics and body conditioning classes but I am going to start going to the gym more and doing more weight training as I think I need to increase my muscle mass.

The video is ace - everyone has done so well and its great to see so many of my lovely friends featuring on it.

I CAN and I WILL be fit, healthy and slim

Kathryn12's Gravatar Hey lovely - the last response you left after your blog sounds absolutely spot on to me (and has really helped me) - take the focus off the weight (I remember in Lighten Up Pete talked about the phrase 'losing weight' putting too much focus on fat & weight) and focus on giving yourself the best chance for health and fitness. That way weightloss becomes a fabulous side effect to feeling amazing in all other ways. You CAN do this xxxx
