What should I do if I haven’t exercised for a long time?
If you haven't exercised for a long time then we recommend that you consult your doctor for a check up. When you start exercising make sure you start slowly and build up over time.
What happens if I experience any pain when I am exercising?
Some relative discomfort is fine, i.e. breathing more deeply, increased heart rate and your muscles feeling like they are working harder than normal. Pain is different; it's your body giving you a warning sign that something might be wrong. If you feel pain. If it doesn't go away when you stop, consult your doctor immediately.

General: Other Programs:
How is this different to the 'Lighten Up' program?
I designed the Lighten Up programme some years ago, it's a great programme and has
helped many people to lose weight successfully. The advantages of petecohen.tv
are that it's easier to follow, and you get my 1-to-1 support for the days you
choose to follow the programme.
Membership: Access:
I’ve lost my password how can I get it sent to me?
You can find a link to have your password emailed to you here:
http://www.petecohen.tv/go/weight-loss-video-coach/login/&reminder
Membership: General:
Can I do the programme again in the future?
You can follow the programme as many times as you like, in fact you might find that the more time you follow it, the more you will get out of it, especially as you use all the different tools.
Membership: Termination:
How do I stop the programme and stop getting emails sent to me?
It's very easy, just enter your email and password at this link:
http://www.petecohen.tv/go/stop-programme/
You'll get one more email from the site confirming your Stop request, then all your daily emails will cease. If you did want to start up again, just log in and you can use the Calendar to restart the programme.
Technical: General:
How do I see the 'Resources'? I clicked and nothing happened
You probably have a 'Pop-up-blocker' that is preventing the Resources window from appearing.
Try to configure your pop-up blocker to allow pop-ups for this site (www.petecohen.tv). Or you could disable your pop-up blocker altogether. As a last resort you can access the Resources content directly by clicking the link below... (you'll need to be logged in first however)
http://www.petecohen.tv/go/resources/
Can I print out the text?
Yes you can. Simply hi-light the text using your mouse and then use the keys Ctrl-C to copy the text. Use the keys Ctrl-V to paste the text into your Word document
Will my computer be able to run the programme?
Basically the answer to this is - if you can do the FREE TRIAL and you have no technical problems with that then you won't have any problems running the full programme :)
You'll need a Broadband Connection to the internet and the Adobe Flash Player.
Ensure your internet connection is not busy downloading any large files and shut down any un-needed browser-windows and/or
applications to 'release' more 'system resources' to the programme -
especially if the video playback appears to be stuttering or jumpy.
Technical: Video:
Why are the videos taking so long to load and play?
The videos have been especially made and compressed to 'stream' (download) at a rate that is faster than their 'play-speed' on a normal broadband connection. If you are trying to use the programme on anything other than a Broadband Connection then you will experience considerable delays whilst watching the videos.
Sometimes a video clip might 'stall' while it is 'buffering' enough to get going again. This can be caused by excessive network traffic on your connection or even at a network 'hub' in your area or at your ISP. (When a clip is 'buffering' you will see a rotating-dial icon on the video window)
Always ensure that you (and anyone else that shares your connection) are not downloading any other large files when watching the video clips as this will ensure there is enough bandwidth for your requirements.
It's also worthwhile shutting down any un-needed browser-windows and/or applications to 'release' more 'system resources' to the video player - especially if the video playback appears to be stuttering or jumpy.
The Tools: General:
How many Tools should I be using?
Whilst there are 9 Tools in my programme you don't have to use all of them. You should also not be using more than 3 at anytime.
Weight Loss: General:
How much weight can I expect to lose?
According to medical science, the body can only realistically lose
between one and two pounds of fat in a week. Some people find that they lose
more, especially when they are starting out.
However, the loss is most cases is fat but also water. If weight loss is
not accompanied with exercise and increased activity then the body can often
lose muscle as well.
What if my weight loss stops?
People's weight can fluctuate for many reasons so if your weight loss stops, it might be that you are still taking in more food than you need. It could be that through doing more exercise and activity you are putting muscle tone on. This is not a bad thing as it's your muscles that, in time, will burn up your excess pounds. Many women find that they also retain weight during their menstrual cycle.
How best should I measure my weight loss?
The classic approach is to weigh yourself, but please remember that when you do this you are not just measuring fat as your body is made up of water, muscles and bone. Bear this in mind as your weight might fluctuate and the scales might not always be the best measure of how well you are doing. Other ways to measure your success are by taking measurements of your hips, stomach, upper legs and arms and seeing over the course of a few weeks how many inches you have lost. One of the best measures will be how well you use the tools and how positive you are when following the programme.
Weight Loss: Nutrition:
Should I take any supplements whilst doing the programme?
Providing you are in a good state of health, then it probably won’t be necessary to take supplements. Most supplements that people take are vitamins and minerals and these are found in food. If you eat a well balanced diet, then you should be getting your daily recommended intake of them. If you are in any doubt, you might want to consider talking to a qualified nutritionist.
Are there any foods I should stay away from?
There are no foods that you should stay away from, but remember if you want to make the most of this programme, then eating more fresh and natural foods as opposed to processed, packaged, deep-fried and sugary foods will not only help you lose the weight, but also keep you healthy.
What do I need to know about Nutrients in food?
It's so important to have a varied diet. We have divided the
essential foods into two groups: Macronutrients and Micronutrients.
Macronutrients
Carbohydrates, protein and fat are the main food groups we need in large amounts. Our digestion has to work hard to turn them into a form our bodies can actually use. Carbohydrates have to be converted to glucose, fats into fatty acids and proteins into amino acids before they can actually work for us.
Micronutrients
Vitamins and Minerals enable your bodies to function properly, they are necessary for hormonal and nervous interactions and they regulate our metabolism. We include water here as well because it is so important.
What are the different types of Carbohydrates?
Carbohydrates are a direct source of energy for the body and are divided into two types: simple and complex.
SIMPLE carbohydrates or sugars are rapidly broken down into glucose. The fact that they hit the blood stream so fast can cause problems.
COMPLEX carbohydrates or starches are broken down into glucose more slowly so that the body can absorb and process them more slowly and efficiently.
Why is protien so important?
Every single organ and body tissue is made of protein, which needs renewing constantly. Proteins are made up of amino acids which are divided into two groups: essential and non essential.
There are eight essential amino acids which the body needs on a daily basis and can't manufacture. They have to come directly from the food you eat.
There are also 12 non essential amino acids which the body can make for itself - but only if the essential ones are already present.
The best way to make sure you're getting the right kind of protein is to eat a very varied diet. People on restricted diets (including many well known slimming plans) may not be getting enough good quality protein. What do I need to know about fat?
You need some fat in your diet to ensure you get the essential fatty acids your body needs, but some fats are better for you than others .
There are three types: saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated. All three have the same number of calories, but saturated fats have been linked with heart disease and other major health problems. Polyunsaturated are the best ones to choose in order to avoid raising your cholesterol levels, although monounsaturated fats are better than unsaturated ones.
What are vitamins?
Vitamins are needed for the body's normal growth and metabolism. They are organic, so you can get them from plants and animal products.
If you eat meat, you're getting your vitamins second hand from the plants the animals have eaten.
It's better to get your vitamins direct, by eating the vegetables and fruit yourself – you'll get more vitamin C, for example, from an orange or even a potato than from a steak.
What are minerals?
Minerals aren't organic and can't directly provide energy that your body can absorb. Instead, they keep the body functioning by enabling you to unlock the energy from the other foods you eat.
A lot of vital minerals get stripped out of processed and refined foods, which means the energy from these foods can't be released as they're eaten.
Instead, the body has to find the minerals it needs for this process from other parts of the body. That's why, if you eat a lot of processed foods, you might have a mineral deficiency. The best way to protect yourself is to eat a varied diet.
Why is water so important?
Water is your most basic need after air. You'll die of thirst much faster than you'll die of hunger.
Most of your body is composed of water but not only can you not store it, you need constantly to replace it as you're losing it continually.
It's essential internal lubricant and cleanser, it keeps
your kidneys and other organs functioning and your digestive system can't
function properly without it.
Weight Loss: Pregnancy:
Can I do this if I'm pregnant?
You can do the programme if you are pregnant, but please don't except to lose weight. Be careful with the amount of exercise and activity you do and consider talking to medical experts around the do's and don'ts of losing weight loss whilst pregnant.
Is this suitable to use post-pregnancy?
The programme will be great post-pregnancy as it will get you back in shape. Remember not to overdo it, especially with exercise, so you might want to ease your way into the programme by really taking your time.
